Glenunga Hub is a community facility situated in Glenunga Reserve. The focus for the project was on creating a precinct that can be used by multiple user groups simultaneously, with a balance between competitive training and community use. Glenunga Community Hub is a vibrant community place where recreation supports healthy living and community well-being. Oxigen have seamlessly integrated the new community facility with multiple sporting activities and recreation opportunities for all ages. The project includes irrigation and drainage to 2 ovals, extensive siteworks and landscaping to the perimeter of the reserve, a new carpark, a public multi-use plaza with shelters and BBQ facilities, engaging junior playground with water/nature play zones and play equipment, walking tracks and fitness stations, feature planting and a new paradigm for tree management that reinforces the City of Burnside Urban Tree Strategy. Key to the project was achieving a balance of playing fields, community hub and play. 200 new trees were planted. The success of the project is based on a collective need for a shared facility that will endure for current and future generations. The result will be an outstanding asset for the community for the next 20 years.
