The riverbank is approximately 380 hectares in area bound by North Terrace, Port Road, Park Terrace and War Memorial Drive/North Adelaide. The site houses some of South Australia’s most important social, cultural and economic assets. The site has seen spasmodic and uncoordinated development since the Torrens Lake was built. Several plans have been undertaken for parts of the precinct, most focussing upon the central zone. The Greater Riverbank Implementation Plan describes a place and strategy for realization that is world class. The implementation plan takes advantage of the existing qualities of the site and weaves this with a contemporary view of urban life. What will evolve is a place that is compelling, logical and implementable.
